Ricoh machines xx04sp and new xx04exsp models

    Hi,

Having trouble with many machines that have safecom, they are having a restart problem, you get a

technical problem on the screen and have to restart your machine.

The log logged SC899, some one have the same problem?

Thank you for all the answers

Solutions are a bit of a nightmare.

SC899 is a general service code that means a software error has occurred.
The code is not very helpful as there is little indication to the root cause, e.g it might be Safecom, but could just as easily be a print job or some other function causing the problem.

Many fixes for SC899 will be via firmware updates and server and client app software updates issued from the software solutions vendor.

You need to troubleshoot and try and re-create the sequence of events leading up to the triggering of the service code.
Then log a support call with Ricoh when you have gathered all the information you can on the problem.

Your 899 code issue may have nothing to do with this print release program but more to do with bad print jobs from the internet. Check your firmware versions first. I had a installation of a new MP 6055 that would not stop printing PS error pages from Chrome until I installed the pcl5 driver.

This is true. Printing some HTML documents will cause this code. Unplug the network cable and reboot the machine. If this clears it, have IT clear the queue in the server, or clear the PC queue if its peer to peer structure. Firmware and Java needs to be current.

Another quick fix if nobody can pin down where the bad job is coming from is to turn on "user auth" per user codes- reboot the machine with it on the network, wait 5 minutes and then turn off user auth. That will spool out all the waiting jobs and get everyone working again

Also check the heap and stack settings. They should be set to 75% of the maximum memory.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

            Hit it.

                  The ex models support safecom.
