Going on call tomorrow for MPC2551 with error sc681-08

have call tomorrow on Ricoh MPC2551 with SC681-08.. Is this more likely a toner cartridge issue or reader /board ? Frank/Action Photocopy

Any info related to this is very much appreciated.

SC 681-061 thru 164 is retry of RFID communication fails three times after the machine has detected the RFID communication error. The number after the 08 identifies the color. 081 BK, 082 M, 083 C and 084 Y. Defective chip on cartridge, defective RFID board, damaged/loose RFID board cable, electrical noise. Cartridge is the quickest and easiest to try first.

Thanks Tim. Customer texted me photo of display and there is no number after the 08. The screen shows SC681-08

I had a series of this issue on various toner cartridge colors. our parts/supplies dept. had decided to save a buck by using non-OEM toner. The copiers couldn't read the RFID chips accurately causing a few headaches in the shop. Confirm toner cartridges are OEM!
