    MP 3053 can't ping

Hello all, I have an MP3053 that I cannot ping or web into. Checked the web and telnet settings in SP mode. Both are on. I suspect a bad nic but need to be sure as the customer is chargeable. I have never used telnet so not sure what to do. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to unplug the network cable from the 3053 and plugging it into your laptop?

SLIMSLOB, I brought it into the shop as it was in a small closet in a doctors house. I can't ping it here either. I can print usb though as I just tried it.

Check to see if someone was fooling around with the network settings in User tools, and activated IEEE 802.1x authentication...
That will basically make it invisible on any network. It should be inactive

There's a pretty darn good chance that it was a post of yours from some time ago, that I'm reflecting back on.
It's come up in my travels a time or 2, and never would have resolved it on my own

Print a config page from the machine ( under tools, printer features) and see if there is an access range setup for the copier. If you don't see all zeros, or a range of up address within the range of your network, you won't be able to ping. Also try printing from the machine directly as well to a computer of yours and see if you get a response that way as well .
If it works, don't touch it.

SP 5985-001. If should be set to 1.

Thanks a ton for the suggestions. it was the IEE authentication. Set to active. You'd think I would know that as I got schooled about two years ago on a color with the same problem. Man, after thirty three years you think you know it all.....Thanks again!!
