    Aficio 3245 line posisition off

This one has me scratching my head. I have a 3245 that passes color registration both through user tools and line posistion adjustment in SP. I get a result of 010101 which is normal however my lines are off. The copier thinks it's happy but its not. It's not off a lot but it's off. I can manually dial them in and it looks great until it does line posistion adjustment and then it's off again. So far I have replaced all drums and devs, fuser, laser unit, transfer unit, and both NV rams. Also did a memory clear and nothing has set this thing straight yet.

Have you tried firmware yet, specifically the MUSIC? Firmware history doesn't really show such an issue, but if something has happened to give the machine a bad target as reference then it's a case of 'garbage in, garbage out'...
Also, have you looked at the ID sensors?

I forgot to mention I changed out the id sensors. I have not flashed the machine with firmware. I will check again but there hasn't been any new releases on this model in forever. Still, won't hurt to reflash.

Question, if I turn process control off and dial the line in manually to where they look good will that buy me more time? With process control off it won't go through line posistion adjustment right?

Reset the following SP's to default:

          SP2-909-003, -002 and -003
          SP2-916-008, -009 and -010
          SP2-103-056, -057 and -058

Then start the automatic line position adjustment - I don't htink that this is really your problem but it's not much trouble to give it a shot.

How much is the color registration off and does it look steady-going or is there a difference from the leading to the trailing trailing edge noticeable= As for the last case you may have a bad synchonisation between the transfer and fuser or registration drive.

Regarding SM, you can disable the line position adjustmend discretely via SP5993-1 (0 = never). Dunno of that's a good idea if you have "just" a kind of minor color shift.
