Scanning file security settings tab greyed out MP C 3504

Hi,customer wants to encrypt pdf files (scan to folder),the security settings tab is greyed out when the select file type/name.
Set the machine back to original factory settings,still the same,spend 2 hours trying to figure this out-any guru's out there know I'what I'm missing?
Normal scanning works fine/network ok,logged in as admin etc,got to be something simple!!!???

I might be wrong but I believe that you need to select PDF/A as the file type.
