    Hi Guys,

I have this WF machine and it codes out with a 302 code. I have cleaned the charge corona unit and changed the corona wires, but cannot get the machine to run. I have a corona unit on order, but I checked with the last tech who worked on it 5 months ago and he had the same problem. He corrected it by changhing the charge unit. Isn't 5 months a very short time for a charge unit to last? I don't really have any experience with them. Is this a common problem with this model? Does anyone have any ideas or experiences with this code they will share? TIA Totoro

Check drum ground, I believe on both ends the drum is grounded via copper tabs. Make sure the drum shaft is tightly bound to the drum. Check the drum, especially the ends, for dings, wear, or loss of outer conductive materials (most likely the answer).

Good luck, let us know what happens.

I have checked the the connection of the cable and the cable seems to be fine. I was able to print out a meter read so I think the cable and the power pack are good. The only thing I noticed is that the meter page had a lot of background, but it is due for a developer change. I remember looking at the drum, but I will look at it closer when I get the charge unit in. Thanx for the suggestions.

with the background on the meter page, sounds like a ch wire also i'd check the corona end blocks and if not cracked isolate them with teflon or electrical tape from where they seat on the alum. ch frame

            Well guys,

It turned out to be the charge unit. When I got it home in some good lighting I saw some discoloration on the metal frame near the end blocks. Almost as if it had been scoured. Very strange for a 5 month old corona unit. Who knows.

Not so crazy - these machines are notorious for dirty charge wires causing the infamous fog of wavy lines. Up until recently, the CC cleaning pads had to be peeled off the plastic piece and reattached with the precision of a brain surgeon - what @&*%$!# engineer designed that and just exactly how much money did he think he was saving???

Anyway these stupid little pads didn't do much of a job cleaning the wire to begin with let a lone when fat fingered techs like me quit changing them because the stupid things are just gonna fall off anyway... as the wire gets dirty, the voltage goes up making it more likely to arc. Once it arcs it's done for. Sure you can replace the terminal caps and restring it, but your better off replacing the assembly. Coating the inside of the new terminals with teflon grease will help as will setting the CC Cleaning to maximum (SP2804 = 2), and you can get the CC Cleaner as a normal assembly not just the pads.

You made me feel better Shadow, I thought I was the only fat fingered tech installing the cleaning pads.
