Savin 8025 Scanrouter fax forwarding to e-mail

hey guys, i have an interesting scenario for you guys. i'm relatively new to the savin line, i've configured scanrouter a dozen times to scan to network folders without a hitch, however, i got called to a customers site today that have a savin 8025 with the 3 line g3 fax option installed. all 3 lines are active and able to receive and transmit. i have the machine set up to scan to e-mail and that is working fine without any authentication enabled. the customer is running off of a windows exchange server, and is utilizing scan router to scan to their network shares on the same server. I figured that was a bit strange considering their machine will scan smb, but then i figured out why. they are forwarding their incoming faxes to e-mail addresses. three seperate lines each going to an individual e-mail address. i never configured scanrouter for this application and before today didn't even realize that you could do that within scanrouter, but they insist that they had it set up that way initially. they had a problem with their server and they haven't been able to receive faxes to their folders since. i was hoping that someone with scanrouter experience could point me in the right direction here on what settings to set. their scan folders are all working fine and i made sure that the service was running and all of the general settings seem to be set correctly both on the machine and at the server. thanx guys.

Scanrouter is designed to be just scan to folder on the server.
Scan to e-mail scans to e-mail.
Fax forwarding is to e-mail only.
E-mail is a protocol, scanrouter is a program.
It never worked the way they said because they are different formats.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

hey nmfaxman, i appreciate your quick response, but there were settings within scanrouter to forward faxes by designating one of the g3 fax lines to a user that was created within scanrouter. there definitely seems like there are settings there, however, i never configured this and don't want to make the situation worse. i may just try to talk them into forwarding their faxes to a network folder.

before making my comment, is this scanrouter professional? the professional and enterprise versions natively support this feature. In addition the client could have had fax fowarding turn on on the device going to a folder and they may have taught it was being done via scanrouter.

sub-addressing and TSI inbound fax routing requires the MFP and scanrouter professional or scanrouter enterprise

I will review this with the application and post a second comment.

          From the documentation:
Documents received by fax are delivered with ScanRouter V2 Professional or ScanRouter Enterprise.

I have confirmed that the scanrouter lite will not support this, this version does have an in-tray save destination but will not be supported for the fax unless you use the pro or enterprise edition. If the client says they had it, maybe they got the pro version. Here's how to do it, if they have the pro:

          Setting the Fax In-Tray
          ScanRouter V2 Professional (Ver.2.xx)
          ScanRouter Enterprise
Follow this procedure to make the settings for the fax in-tray.
If the fax in-tray is specified as a received fax destination for any port in the I/O Device Properties settings, the following documents will be delivered to the fax in-tray:
-Received fax documents with no fax delivering ID specified by the sender
-Received fax documents from a facsimile whose TSI code is not set to forward the documents in [TSI] under [Delivery Table]
Though the fax in-tray is in the system, any destination can be specified as a received fax destination.
A fax delivering ID is set for each destination.
          Note
n Even if the fax delivering ID has been specified by the sender, the received fax document will be sent to the Undelivered Data Tray if the ID is not set for the destination as delivery information with ScanRouter V2 Administration Utility.
Changing the Settings for the Fax In-Tray in the System
1 In the tree pane, select [Main Destination List] under [Delivery Table].
2 Select [Fax In-Tray], and then click [Edit Destination] on the [Operations] menu.
3 Click the [Basic Settings] tab.
          4 Click [Delivery Properties]
5 Make the properties settings in the [In-Tray save] dialog box.
If [Auto - delete] is selected, enter the number of days in the [Save for] box.
          [In-Tray save] Properties
6 Select a file format, and then click [OK].
7 Select a delivery type in the [Delivery type selection] list, and then click [Add].
Make the properties settings for the delivery type added in the dialog box.
See the Help topics below about the setting items for each delivery type.
Properties of Another Delivery Types-Basic Settings
Properties of Another Delivery Types-Advanced Settings
8 Make the settings on the [Name Settings], [Additional Handling], and [Title settings] tabs.
          9 Click [OK].
          Note
n The name of the fax in-tray in the system cannot be changed. Also, a fax delivering ID cannot be set for the fax in-tray.
Settings for Backing up the Received Fax Data
All received fax data can be backed up and the backup data will be delivered to the specified destination. Regular delivery of received fax documents will also be performed at the same time.
1 On the [Server] menu, click [Set Delivery Feature Defaults].
The [Set Delivery Feature Defaults] dialog box appears.
2 Click the [Fax Backup Settings] tab.
3 Select the [Back up all received faxes] check box, and then specify the delivery destination of the backup data
          4 Click [OK].

            bonus post

I found this, hope you see the post and read it. The scanrouter lite might be able to support receiving all faxes but not filtering by code. When you setup the I/O device you will need to see what options are supported. See the attach and see what I mean, enjoy!
