    ScanRouter V2

I need to completely remove ScanRouter and reinstall it on a server, but I can't release the I/O Device.

IT moved the server that is running ScanRouter from one Network Domain to another and every since then I haven't been able to login to the software. It tells me that my password is not correct.

I would like to completely remove the software from the server, but the uninstall doesn't work becuase I still have an I/O Device configured. I don't care if I have te reconfigure ScanRouter on the server and reset everything on the copier. Whatever it takes!

Any help at all woudl be appeciated.

    Thank you!

One way to resolve quickly would be to temporarily disconnect the MFP from the network so that ScanRouter would not recognize it. Alternately, boot in safemode, remove SR. There are a couple of things to do, if you like. It's been a while since I've dealt with SR. You say that IT moved the server running SR to another domain and now you cannot log into SR. I believe that's an issue with not having been given authentication within the new domain and not with SR itself. Or, IT changed the auth info for the workstation. Either way, I'd bet your best bet would be to go through IT and let them know what you need to be able to do and why.

The above comment is not accurate, you just need to open the scan router and go the menu and choose i/o device and select the device and remove it. The perform the regular uninstall via add/remove from control panel. If you want a long way in case no password is known follow this, is not required for your situation but is here if you want it:

The following removal procedure will delete a certain registry entry and folders created by ScanRouter to allow re-install.
IMPORTANT! Please backup entire Windows registry and proceed with extreme caution.

      1. Suspend ScanRouter services by using one of the following 3 methods:
-Launch ScanRouter V2 Administration Utility, select server, then select suspend services. Close ScanRouter administrator utility.
-Go to start button/programs/startup folder to delete the delivery server shortcut. Once shortcut is deleted, restart PC and move on to step 3.
-Disable all ScanRouter services called DDS Scheduler Daemon, ScanRouterDriverV2, Ridoc Information Service, SOption, and POption. Right click on each service, select properties, then change setting from automatic to disabled.

      2. Delete the RDS folder located under Program Files and RDCAB folder located under the root directory usually c:\rdcab. Caution! Both RDS and RDCAB folders are used by both ScanRouter and DeskTopBinder, so skip this step if DeskTopBinder program and data are still needed.

      3. Launch Windows registry to edit the following key location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall\{387D6CC5-6D6C-4BA0-8EAF-955813BFC5D8} Caution! Make sure "DisplayName" value equal to "ScanRouter V2 Lite" before deleting. The ScanRouter V2 Lite installation ID is in red. If you cannot find the installation ID {387D6CC5-6D6C-4BA0-8EAF-955813BFC5D8}, please locate a similar installation ID which must have a "DisplayName" value equal to "ScanRouter V2 Lite". .
Once the "Display Name" is equal to "ScanRouter V2 Lite" delete it.
Notes: This procedure works for software installed as either "Launch at Startup" or "Run in service mode". Users who isntalled ScanRouter as "Launch from Program Folder" can skip step 1. The procedure is the same for all operation systems. If needed, reinstall ScanRouter V2 Lite.

        NOT ACCURATE?

Did you read his post? He can't just release the I/O device as he's not even able to access the friggin software:

"IT moved the server that is running ScanRouter from one Network Domain to another and every since then I haven't been able to login to the software. It tells me that my password is not correct."

I gave him the easiest way to do what he asked help with. Don't believe it? Give it a try.

I overlooked the I/O not been able to be realease, the additional information should still allow him to remove the software. What I meant on not being accurate was the extra steps suggested when the manual uninstall can be perform without moving anything, just from the box with the problem and following the additional instructions. Hope he gets back to us, letting us know if all went well.

            Thank you!

I can't thank you enough for your responses!

Unfortunately when IT moved the server to the new domain they changed a whole lot of other things including the login account that I used when I originally setup the Scan Router software.

MFPGUY, I followed your instructions to remove the existing install and it worked very well. I tried installing the software afterwards and selected the option for it to load as a service (this is how I prev had it setup). This kept giving me problems, so I removed the software one more time and installed it with the option to launch at startup. Everything seems to have loaded properly and I was able to go back in and setup the I/O Device as well as my scan destinations.

I'm having to do all of this work remotely since the server is in our data center and the copier is in a locked down department. I won't be able to test the copier and confirm it all works until the staff come in on Monday. But based on the results so far, everything looks good.

Thanks again for all of your help!!

            Jim

Sounds good; that was an unusual scenario and you described it very well. We have all learn from this one.

                    Outstanding problem

I finally got around to testing the unit today and I still have a problem. The software is now letting me get in and configure it, but it shows that the Service is suspended. The Error log only shows "Launching of the scanner driver has failed".

From the copier, I was able to download the address book to the copier. From teh server, the following 3 services were running. So I'm not sure where to look for the problem?

                    Dds Schedular Deamon
                    ScanrouterDriverV2
                    SOption

                    Thank you,
                    Jim

ok not a lot of info here to make a recomendation. When you uninstall did you do a fresh install? also do you know how to stop and start the services in regular operations? Do you know where to go to see if the service is running on the OS? Did you install scanrouter like you mentioned; start as a program instead of service?

Let me know this and I will guide you if I can.

                        Hi,

I see the same issue where the error log shows "Launching the scanner driver failed" and I see all the three services running in Administrative tools - > services. I tried to stop and restart the Scan Router Drive V2 service not much luck there. But i have to say that scan router is running on another server too where the delivery services are in operation . So do I have to stop those services there in order to start the delivery services on the second server ? Please suggest ?

I would do that; when you disable the services test each one individually. You can also remove the MFP once the services are stop to further test each server independently.

Actually I double clicked on SCScanDr.exe which is in the scan router folder and it stopped showing the message when I clicked on Resume services. But still it wont start delivery services and shows as services suspended. I tried to remove the I/O device from the first server ,suspend services there and added I/O in the second server and tried to resume services. It did not work.

It sounds like a very strange scenario. Have you tried following the manual removal posted on the threads? I don't remember if you said you did. Let me know what OS you are using. Let's see if we can help you with this.
