On smc log a lot of sc 220 (eight times), sc 240 and at last 230 was recorded.

I'm on-site right now. What i see tray 1 flickers sporadic between paper existing and empty, and other paper formats, B5, 8 1/2x11... pretty crazy.

I had the paper empty sensors in my toolcase, but no luck with replacment. I think it's the format sensor cabinet in the back side. I could test it in INPUT check and comparing tray 1 to tray 2.

could be a blocked harness cable. Espessialy when it happens shortly after an intervention.

That's exactly what I also thought. I have the harness from the laser unit, bcu to paper size switch in focus. I would have ordered it otherwise.

Meanwhile, the flickering in the tray icon on display occurs for both tray 1 and 2. Very unlikely that both are defect at the same time. In INPUT check for format sensor the values 0 and 1 playing act up in idle state.

The customers machine is already 7 years old and the contract was renewed twice. Our salesman is currently making an offer for a new ricoh. If not, we still have a few dianas to replace.

If the paper trays are flickering between ready and out of paper, considering the age of the machine, replace the paper size switches. One contact in the switch detects whether the tray is close. These switches have a history of failure, especially in a high dust or chemical vapor environment. A little vibration say from a sheet of paper being fed and they will go to out of paper and then back to ready. I have had all switches in a machine fail within a couple of weeks.

that is normal on this machine. Adjust the paper tray to his fixed size (A4 or A3,...) or replace the switch like Slim says.
I repair a paper tray when it is broken and sometimes it wil fail and give exactly that problem (flickering paper size)

You're right, the machine stands on the site of a chemical plant in a copyroom and close to a industrial workshop. I have already prepared another mp c2551 from our stock in the workshop to swap the machine. I will then repair the customers machine later in our workshop. In time, the customer can continue working.

My colleague, who was previously at the mpc, had fixed the formats in paper/traysettings in user tools. He could not see what is going on with the paper trays. This flickering from format sensors caused the problem of the sc codes i think even if trays are fixed to the formats.
