How do you set to scan to PDF?? Its set to scan TIF right now.

Choose File Type on the left of the screen. for scan to folder or e-mail.
If you're using TWAIN scanning, it isnt available.

If you are using Scanrouter you need to adjust it in the destination list on the PC or server that has the software loaded on it.

Ive only worked with the TWAIN system,How difficult is it to download Scanrouter and replace the TWAIN drivers.Its networked to 6 computers>

It is not difficult to download SRv2 lite. After that is gets a little tricky.
Install SR on a scan server. Install DTB on the client computers with the Document link.
From the SR program, choose File > Set IO device to find and set the MFP.
Then still in SR, set up the address book for each of the client computers.
On the client, right click on the doc link and choose properties. from there set the address of the server.

These are pretty skmipy instructions but it gets involved.
Then there are other problems to deal with like firewalls and server going down and etc.
Scan to folder is easier to setup and maintain.

What other problems have you seen with scanrouter scanning.Should i bite the bullet on this service call cause it sounds like there will be problems in the future.

I never recommend SR unless the customer has an IT staff to maintain it. Seems like there are always issues that require an on-site person to resolve. A) you are not experienced with SR. B) the office nerd will need a lot of hand holding.

With the older machines that did not have SMB scanning, we would sometimes put out a PC with scanrouter running on it, depending on the customer. This will eliminate the issue of having someone's computer off, IT not wanting it on their servers or what ever other problems may arise. With a machine of this vintage, you may want to see about getting a newer piece of equipment in there that has SMB capabilities. It's much easier to set up, add users and maintain than the scanrouter.

He wants to scan to folder and e-mail rather than running a SR, but he hasnt even tried??? he has folders designated but is unsure how to scan to e-mail.

My bad for not converting that Savin model to Ricoh. that model wont do SMB or email. Only SOL, (SR)
