    Ricoh 1224c fax issue

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem with said machine at a customers where the machine is on a shared phone/fax line, the user does a manual receive, what happens is that when they press manual recieve, the machine does its handshaking up to the point where the csi is displayed on the screen (senders ID) it continues to communicate for about 30 secs then just diconnects the line.

I have tried disabling v34 protocol, upping the rx attenuator and turning off ecm plus increasing the error threshold and still it fails, it sends ok but not receives.

I have plugged in a new fax machine (Ricoh stella model) and it worked immediately.

I have also changed the ncu and the main fax board!!!
This setup did work until recently.

Any suggestions? apart from selling em a new machine??

There is a user setting that blocks numbers that aren't in the address book. I don't remember the exact name, or if this model has it, but our trainer will sometimes enable this by accident and then the machine appears as though it won't receive.

Does it work in manual mode?
the savin2535 is displaying well bet the hiter lamp is not shining and the lamp had been tested o.k.please kindly help.

I think you are refering to the authorised rx mode in the user tools, that is not enabled, but thanks for your reply though, i think the next step is to analyze the protocol dump list to see if that can lead to why its not behaving.

If you have a 1224 in the field, every problem is a good reason to get rid of it

Haven't had any fax trouble like this with the A1224. Does the problem affect every manual RX transmission or just some specific stations? Are the machine and the phone connected to a telephone installation or do they have a direct line access?

Sorry, that should have said, "Does it work in Automatic RX Mode?"

Update the firmware - I've had several fax machines and mfp's with this problem, although not this particular beast. Honestly, I've managed to get rid of all of them in my territory - every 3800cmf that gets traded in should become an instant free upgrade for a 1224 customer... no matter how bad condition the cmf is in it's an improvement.

I will also give you the same advice I just posted to annother thread:

I carry only 2 parts for these machines: 1) heavy chain 2) bag of concrete - makes a real nice boat anchor.

I think at this point I would initialize the settings. Something is amiss. First print out a user and system parameter list then Use Fax SP5104 to initialize back to factory settings.
