    mp5054 clogging up pcu

    We have a mp5054 that has been running all ok it has about 370k on the meter the other day the pcu got clogged with toner and broke the coil .
    we replaced the top half of the pcu and checked the tcb all seemed ok but the toner still keeps backing up and we cant see why.
    we have changed the tcb and it seems to be turning has anyone had any problems with these copier with waste toner problems.

      Check out the waste transfer system that runs between the PCU and the waste bottle, I've seen a few accounts on Ricohs tech forum saying they have clogged and broken the augers in that system. If the PCU is working good and the bottle is working good it's likely between those.

              We have had a few and most were caused by the pm not being done on a regular basis. Check the waste toner system because once it starts to clog you have to clean it out all the way back to the waste bottle. It is a bit of a job but not too bad.

                  I had a 4054 doing the same thing. It seems to affect the higher speed machines more. Almost seems like the waste toner auger in the PCU is spinning at such a high rate of speed it causes the toner to cake up at the outlet, and after a while the auger just snaps off.

                  ...at least that's how it looks to me... the engineers that designed it didn't ask for my input.

                      On the waste toner bottle the feeler is on the front end and the toner does not always flow from the rear to the front. We make sure the waste toner bottle is replaced at the pm cycle if not it backs up into the recycle auger snapping it.

                              Assuming you mean the D2026511 "Toner recycling bracket assembly" thing it's $335 in the us. Which I agree is crazy.
