I have a MPC6004 with a fax kit installed, the fax is set up with fax forwarding turned on, printing and storage turned off. Every 3 - 4 weeks since install the fax is coming up with a Fax Communication Log Full error. This stops the fax from functioning. The only way I've found to reset the error is to run Fax SP5-102 (Erase all files). I've been through the set up several times and everything all looks set correctly. The WIM has no error logs recorded. Printing the Journal doesn't clear the error, the fax memory is still sitting at 100%. Anyone come across anything like this or similar? Oh, and all firmware is up to date too.

Re: Ricoh MPC6004 Fax Communication Log Full erors
No info on this model, but on a c4503 Fax system switch 1E bits 0 and 1 deal with continued function after communication log is full. You will have to refer to the c6004 manual for specifics on this model.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING -

Re: Ricoh MPC6004 Fax Communication Log Full erors
Turn on Auto Print Fax Journal. If it is Off then you have to go into Fax SP to delete the journal. If it is on the journal will automatically print and delete the journal after every 50 communications. You might be able to set it up to forward instead of printing to save paper.Comment

Re: Ricoh MPC6004 Fax Communication Log Full erors
1. Print out the fax parameter list settings first. A initialisation of the fax board could help in the long run.
2. Remove the fax card from the machine and put shortly the jumper to the factory position and back to the regular connection again.
3. Do SP-5104 ram clear in fax sp. and reboot the machine
4. Maybe fax Bit swtich 22 bit no. 0 -> 0 for pbx use
5. Do a firmware update with package and each romdata firmware files
Have a look to the rtb rd242033a.Attached FilesComment

Re: Ricoh MPC6004 Fax Communication Log Full erors
Hey Guys
Thanks for the replies on this one. I'm fairly certain that I've now got to the bottom of what is causing the problem. I reset the SRAM SP5-101 and set the fax up again from factory defaults. This reset the Coms log error and allowed send and receive as per normal. I noticed when I sent a fax I got no transmission report, when I checked the user fax parameters it was set to print the report on every transmission. It appears the transmission reports were being stored in memory and never printing. Because the machine is running PaperCut and the transmission reports are a count that are not assigned to a PaperCut user account it just holds them in memory (until it gets full). And because all the received faxes were being forwarded to an e mail address Papercut was not required to control any fax output.
I probably should have mentioned the Papercut Installation on the machine earlier but never considered it a factor.
Thanks AgainComment

Re: Ricoh MPC6004 Fax Communication Log Full erors
if you want the real fix follow these steps:
Communication log full, contact administrator
fax feature was pressed a message read"COMMUNICATION LOG FULL" and no faxes printing or going out
user tools
fax features
reception settings
reception filesettings
prohibit autoprint
general
general had beenset to "PROHIBIT"
changed setting to"DO NOT PROHIBIT"
Immediately faxjournals and fax error reports began to print out.
