[Misc] MP 4000b Scan to folder issue

    Hi all
I have peculiar issue with MP 4000b. I tried to set up Scan to Folder as mentioned below.
    Configured my Laptop (IP+Folder+Shared to all+User name+Password)
connected laptop to machine using crossover cable.
    Set IP+Subnet for machine accordingly.
Machine pings, prints and I am also able to connect to machine using internet browser.

When i press Scanner button, screen pops up shows all required options (e-mail, Folder, manual entry etc)
So I presume that scanner SD card is installed.
When I go to Admin Menu and address book management, sequence is as follows -
New program, Name given as SCAN, ok, then folder select, browse network, Workgroup displayed, My laptop & machine appeared, touched my Laptop icon, prompt for Login user & password appears, entered both correctly,
"Connection to machine failed, check the path" displayed.

WHEN I DO SAME CONFIGURATION AND SETTING ON OTHER MACHINES IT WORKED PERFECTLY BUT THERE ARE 3 MACHINES WHICH REFUSES TO CONNECT.
I ALSO TRIED WITH TWAIN DRIVER THROUGH ADOBE ACROBAT WITH NO LUCK. IT RETURNS THE MESSAGE "SCANNER NOT FOUND'.
So somebody please suggest how I can proceed. I really do not know what I am missing.
ONE THING I NEED TO MENTIONED, ALL THESE MACHINES ARE USED, RECONDITIONED.
    Thank you in advance

No mention of the OS you're using
    Kind of important....
F/W update will be necessary to scan to Win 8/10
