I have a feeling it may be disabled in service mode. Like I said in my previous post, usb is seen as a security risk at present.
Check under option 5 in service mode towards the end of the listing if the option still exists to switch usb and nic on/off.
Most devices have this option in service mode. Just can't remember the sp mode off hand.

Re: MP 402SPF no usb slot. Cannot use as a USB printer?
Thank you all for their suggestions. Yes, USB printing was turned on in Service Mode, I had checked that and it is a "1" by default, same as Network Printing. It appears you do have to get the USB print server option to activate the USB "B" port for printing. As I had mentioned, you can see it in Devices and Printers as a device, but it would not plug and play. My loaner MP 161 had no problem plugging and playing so I am assuming that P&P is working. Leaves no other solution but getting the Print Server Option. I ended up after several hours getting the admin pw for the PCs and set it up for network printing, no problem. I really like this machine, a doctors office is using it up front and it looks great and runs fast.Comment

Re: MP 402SPF no usb slot. Cannot use as a USB printer?
I DID have to change one @ 36k today but as a rule all ours make their 40k.
Could always be worse...like a Kyocera Taskalfa 306/356 for example.
They have a batch of faulty drums and until the reworked drums arrive from Japan the only fix is to fit one of the faulty drums....til it falls over in 4 weeks time :/Comment
