    Hello All

can anyone tell me where the smc info is printed from/stored in ? is it stored in a dimm and then printed direct, or spooled onto the hard drive when required and then printed. I've got a weird fault calling sc326 and i've checked all the usual culprits and wondered if the hdd or other memory/storage component was off a bit.

Not sure about the SMC info, but the code is...

    SC 326
    2nd laser synchronization error
    The 2nd laser synchronization signal
cannot be detected by the main scan
    synchronization detector board even if
    the laser diodes are activated.
    Poor connection between the laser
    synchronization detector board and
    the LD unit.
    Laser synchronization detector board
    out of position
    Laser synchronization detector board
    defective
    LD unit defective
Don't take that toner with me!

On newer models this can be caused by faulty/dirty door interlock switches.

        hi

thanks for that. I've had this fault numerous times before and always ended up changing the laser ass. just wondered if maybe this time the hdd could be the cause or maybe.........maybe i should just shut up and order a laser!!!

I would give the switches a shot first, they're cheaper.

This code has come up when toner has been packed around the laser in front (in the hole). I've also had the laser sync detector board bad (small board, back side of laser, rare). I look for the simple things, first, then work up. Dirt is the culprit, usually.
