if i have an account running 28lb paper thru the trays on 12 by 18 paper do i need to
change any settings?either thru user tools or service mode?

I usually set the tray priority settings to Driver Command.
That stops the customer having to run back to the machine to change tray settings.
They can do it via user preferences on the driver at the print stage.
Have you checked the manual to confirm whether the stock being used is within spec?

Fusing temperatures on the 03s are fairly tightly set according to paper thickness. Example SP1105 print target temp

-013 M-thick FC center 135C
-017 Thick 1 FC center 125C

In User Tools - System - paper tray setting there is a section for paper thickness, also in the settings for the print driver. The MPC will use these thickness settings to adjust the fusing.

28lb what? Book, bond, index, cover? Either way yes that is likely heavy enough that the customer should select the correct paper weight in the machine and or printer driver for the tray it is being used in. Your best bet will be to find the grams per square metre equivalent as that will make finding the correct setting easier.

Just remembered this morning, in order to use 12X18 or SRA3 paper does require installing the Image able Area Extension Unit Type M3.

Just remembered this morning, in order to use 12X18 or SRA3 paper does require installing the Image able Area Extension Unit Type M3.

if the trays can run 12 by 18 is it just a 1 inch void without that option?

i have not cked specs but 28lb to me is not much on earlier series..If i remember 110lb run ok thru bypass on the mpc3501 at a few accounts

Coming from a commercial print background AND a Metric country we work in Grams.
I believe that the manual states that you CAN feed up to 320gsm from the trays but once you get wear and tear on the feed units it tends to cause issues but at 105gsm I wouldn't expect any issues other than what Slim stated about the over size sheet.

I believe that the manual states that you CAN feed up to 320gsm from the trays but once you get wear and tear on the feed units it tends to cause issues but at 105gsm I wouldn't expect any issues other than what Slim stated about the over size sheet.

It turns out 28lb paper is 105g/ms.
And setting up the 2 tray and setting the paper weight thru user tools was a breeze.
it looks like i might have a 1/2 void on each side but very workable.

Sounds like it does not have the Image able Area Extension Unit Type M3 installed, 1" wider PTR and some SP settings.

i never saw one and as i only sell lease returns units,they come in many different configurations.
I basically only care about the meter.......
