    MP C4500 unresponsive

I have a Nashuatec MP C4500 Aficio which refuses to cooperate.

It starts fine, and I get to the starting copying screen, but the big green button for copying has a steady red light and it is unresponsive to any printing commands, I can however click around in the menus. It says "Call service" in the bottom left corner of the screen, but doesn't give any error code. After speaking on the phone with a technician (who unfortunately wasn't familiar with this particular model) I tried accesing the service mode, the code works (c + 107 + hold c), but when I choose either Printer SP or Copier SP it is just unresponsive. It behaves the same when I try to access the user settings: I press the top left button, but from that menu I can't click anything. I have tried accessing it with my laptop too, but just get 404 error when surfing to the IP-adress of the copier, despite that I can confirm that I am connected to the copier.

One curious thing I have noticed is that it says 0% memory on the system HD, could this have anything to do with it? It has two HDD's installed and both whir when the copier is turned on, lol...

I am an amateur on fixing copiers (although pretty technical in general) and can't afford service on it. Appreciate any help!

I did now, and now it works! Thanks!!

Except the functions that need the harddrives obviously. I can also access the service mode now. My wild guess is that I need new HDD's for this copier? Or is there a way to format them or so?

Try attaching it to a PC for formatting, if it requires replacement it doesnt require a Ricoh specific drive.

It takes 2 HDD's as you know and they need to be a matched set (Same brand, size , speed) when you replace them.
They were only 40Gb IDE drives which will be difficult to find. You can use larger drives without issue.
