MP C4503 Scan to email destinations disappeared...

Went to a call yesterday for an SC 552 on a MP C4503.

Checked some things and did a reset of the fuser error.
Fuser reset properly and the machine ran fine.

I was completing my call when the customer comes over and says "by the way all my scan to email destinations went away when we got the error".

Sure enough there were no programed destinations left. (they only had 2)

How in the world would an SC 552 have anything to do with this?

BTW printing to the machine works fine. Opened the Web Image Monitor and snooped around...nothing in there saved.

    Ideas?

If the end user isn't a fan of pushing unknown buttons in the address book, they may have had the code come up while printing and unplugged the machine to try to fix it. Without a proper shut down, the HDD will be damaged and reformat once turned back on.

Which of course erases the address book. Or someone in SP mode reformatted HDD or erased/initialized all address books.

Does the customer have another Ricoh with the same or similar address book? If so, you can copy using WIM or SP mode. Once they have the addresses book operating, show their IT or another trusted employee how to use the backup/restore function in WIM. They need to backup any time changes are made.

It wouldn't. I have never seen an address book wiped by a fuser code. Ever.

No other Ricoh equipment...but it was only 2 addresses.
And with this bunch I'd bet any amount of money they unplugged it.
Ok well I'll let them know not to unplug it EVER. LOL.

              Thanks
