For the Mac Guys a little info needed

I just installed a MPC3003 low meter unit with PS3 card to an account using preprinted/prefolded
heavier "stock".
I am no Mac expert and can install print driver usually just using the ip address and let
the machine/laptop do the rest.OS is OS X El Capitan 10.11.
Do you download the drivers off of ricoh or just do as i did?
my issue is i set up tray two for preprinted paper 80g to 101g and
it wont show me a choice to just pick tray 2.
when the job is set i have to go thru printer on display and say tray 2.
Also it doesnt show me any options like in windows

Usually Mac's will just use a generic postscript driver that won't give you all of the Ricoh print features, I would download the print driver from Ricoh's website for your os

Once the driver is installed to your system, when you add the printer via IP address using line printer daemon as protocol, it should pick the correct driver, or you may have to search for it from the list of available divers

When you are going to download the driver for Mac be sure to select the correct OS. Many people make the mistake when using their Windows computer of downloading the Windows PS3 driver. At the top of the driver page there is a Link to Choose Other OS. Pick the proper MAC OS X to download the correct PPD file to a removable device to use for installing on the MAC.

If I download from customers Mac will ricoh-usa detect OS like in Windows?
I will take the download on a thumb drive just to be sure.

Most likely yes.

The new Mac drivers are all the same for 10.7 /10.8 upwards. Sometimes the website detects the Mac OS X version, but you can just scroll to the bottom and click Mac drivers to see them all.

By default the driver will install colour and double sided, so if defaults need to change you will need to use CUPS.

my issue was printing to tray 2 "8 1/2 x11 r",using prefolded heavy stock the apple driver
makes me have to get up and manually tell it use tray 2 via op panel..
I dont know what CUPS is?

CUPS = "Common Unix Printing System". It's built into the Mac/Linux operating system to allow you to configure or maintain any printers that have been added. To access it, open any browser and type "localhost:631" (without quotes). If CUPS is not enabled, you'll need to go into Terminal (Mac's version of Command Prompt) and enable it.

When Terminal is open, type in "cupsctl webinterface=yes" (again, without quotes), then press "Enter". Then simply close Terminal and continue on.

When you make a change using CUPS, you WILL need to type in the User Name/Password for the computer you're on.

i am dealing with heavy stock via tray 2 rather than bypass.

CUPS is only a management / configuration tool for drivers. It is NOT a print driver.

As stated above, CUPS is only a management tool. Installing print drivers on a Mac is a "chore". Here's the process I use.

-Download the drivers for the specific model copier and operating system
-Run the installer package.
-Add the printer using the Apple> System Preferences tool. Set up as an "IP Printer", specify the IP address (static), set protocol to "Line Printer Daemon", and type "lp" (no quotes) in the queue. Name the printer whatever you like, then change the "Use" software dropdown to "Select Software", and choose the right model. (Some of the verbage may be different depending on which version of Mac OS X you're running, but you get the idea.)

Once the printer is installed, then go into CUPS as explained earlier and configure your device.
