Ricoh MPC address book transfer problem

I am transferring the address book from a MP C3002 to a MP C3003. I have done this many times, but always by access through the WIM.
At the clients office, I downloaded the address book file to my usb. Back at our office, I copied the address book file to my computer, accessed the WIM and did an address book restore.

The address book did restore, and destinations are loaded on the MP C3003, but now when I access the address book through the WIM, it says error 404. I can access all other pages of the MP C3003 WIM, only the address book gives a 404 error.

Ive had this happen. try and see if the "permit ssl/tls communication" is at Ciphertext/cleartext.

User Tools - System Settings - Interface settings second page permit ssl/tls communication.

    hope this helps.

As long as you know you have a valid backup, you can initialize all address books with SP 5846-050. Then restore again.

Re: Ricoh MPC address book transfer problem

I have been seeing this on a lot of new machines lately. It will happen before or after I make a change in the address book. In some cases I can access some settings and change the information but when I apply it it won't take. Some browsers work better than others so when I run into this problem I just change over to a different browser.

Thanks Brian...Using IE browser worked. Very strange issue, I can still login to the WIM using chrome, I can get to all pages except the address book. It opens the page, then quickly error 404, page not found.
Switching to IE, I can access the WIM and address book and make changes.

Thanks for all the input, problem solved. Use a different browser.

Assuming the address book file for transfer is in *.csv text format.
The address book file might have been saved in a different character encoding.
Example UTF8 verses ANSI text encoding when saved.

Try opening the address book file in Microsoft notepad/wordpad, and save it again, to reset the character encoding.

Ricoh seems to be lost in the dark ages when it comes to browser support. Not just with their MFPs, but their software, as well.

It seems that IE is the only browser actually supported for almost any activity.

They need to wake up and realize that IE is a has-been.

Or will not work at all between different models. The best way is to back both ways.
