Ricoh C4503 vs. C4502 color output

Have a customer with multiple C4503 and C4502 copiers. Both copiers do very well but The 4503 has noticably bolder and shinier color print output compared to the 4502 (duller). Is this a setting issue on the 4502?

    Toner chemistry is different.

I know that Ricoh dramatically improved the toner after the C4501. The C4502 uses the SPR-F formula. But didn't think the C4503 formula was very different from that other than a slightly smaller particle size and more wax/polymer.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to differences in image quality between these two models. Different PCDU construction, differences in ITBs, different materials in the fusing sleeve, different process control, etc. The 03 is as different to the 02 as the 00 is. If you have a manual for the 03 model it actually lists the differences individually under a section called "Guidance For Those Who Are Familiar With the Predecessor Products".

Found it..page 1-39... thanks. Apparently according to that section, the big difference is not the toner but the Developer unit improvment itself and an increase the amount of developer in the unit. That increase in the amount of developer certainly explains the bolder print and overall increased image density.

We have internal documents about changing colour profiles and dithering settings within the printer driver for the 03 devices.

Simple logic, Newer machines are with modified, upgraded firmware which manage hardware(produced by new technology). & software(Firmware) differently. The flaws OR limitations in previous products( In any segments, right from household products to beauty products) are corrected in newer models.
This is just like human evolution in nature. Hope you can convince customer effectively.

                Best Luck
