Ricoh MP 2501SP problem after PM

    Dear friends,

I have a customer with a Ricoh MP2501 SP with black lines in copies (The machine need PM).

So i change DRUM, DRUM BLADE, CHARGER ROLLER and DEVELOPER ... (sp2801-001)

After that the copies have a background ..

i clean again drum unit, dev unit and only the 2-4 first copies are ok.. the background return!!!!

i changed the charger bias (-2000 ) and the copies were ok.. but only for 2 hours !!!! My customer call me again that the backround return!

    Thank you very much

with this models, if you dont use original parts, you will have to suffer with this kind of problems. Make sure your PM Parts are OEM including the toner.

You don't need to change developer again, just install original drum.

You've basically answered your own question.....because the manufacturing process and/or the source of generic products and supplies can change at any time, so yes, it might work fine one time (or many times) and fail the next.
BTW.....Did you use the correct Developer and not the type for the MP2500? They're NOT the same.

I tried but no success. I have this problem on two machines, at first machin the problem appeared after 10k copies, on secund machin the problem appeared immediately. Since then I only used original drum.

                        Hi all

If you do a close comparison between the black gear (drive end) of the drum, you will see that Ricoh changed the shape of it.

The "compatible" (Katun) drums still use the old shape gear and this allows them to move around in the pcu, as the gear part is shorter than the "new" one.

This causes grounding issues = background.

These machines use the same B039 9510 drum as many other previous ricoh copiers. I don't see how the gear would be changed unless katun drums are using the gear shape of some 20+ year old drum that ricoh doesn't make anymore.

Adjustments won't do it. It will work for a few copies/prints then come back again. Sorry but use OEM drums.
