    MP4054

Just got the copier in on a lease return to redo for sale. It has approx 35000 copies on it. The machine will not let me get into the service mode. It will let me get into the factory service mode but not the standard service mode. I have tried firmware. Hard drive. memory clear all but the engine. Soft reset also. Has anyone ever had this? I still can do all the settings I need in the factory mode but would really like to know why its not letting me into the regular service mode. Thanks for any input.

This model has the option to change the code for normal SP mode. I can't remember the SP code but you should be able to change it from factory mode.

There is a service mode lock in the user tools section. Its in the admin tools section. This may be your problem.

I believe that service code is sp 5081 but its not in the factory service mode. I could not find anything in the user tools admin part.

That would also lock you put of factory service mode.

The service mode lock was turned off in user tools. I have another 4054 here so I will swap boards around and see if that will help. Just want to know what is causing the issue.

yes I can get the reports. There has been no service codes except for the disconnected finisher. I can do everything in the factory mode just wish I knew why I cant get in using the regular service mode. I looked through all the reports and nothing stood out.

NVRAM change! Over on the TSRC forum, we had this conversation a few months ago. SP 5081 in Regular service mode will let you change the SP access code (has to be 6 digits, tried to set a 3503 to the original 107, and it denied it). That SP doesn't exist in Factory mode, and the SMC printout from factory mode does not show you SP 5081. Ricoh did a decent job in locking that down once it's changed. So you either have to find the last person who owned the machine, the last tech who worked on it, or just sit there and try to figure out the code,, but in the end, an NVRAM change is what you'll have to do.
