    MP1100 sc672

    Hello everybody.
I have an Infotec 3110 (MP1100) which I was called to fix. It has been abandoned for a long time after attempt to fix it by other techs failed. Initial code reported to me was sc487. On getting there, the code showed up, but I also discovered the screen is malfunctioning. I cannot access service mode. Finally there was a burnt smell and the screen went blank. When I opened the back of the copier, I discovered rat has eaten up some wires which other tech has joined up. I decided to replace the base machine with an MP9000 and transfered all the boards, drum, fuser and trays. Now its showing sc672. I replaced the controller board assy with that of the MP9000. It hangs on pls wait. Now both controllers are showing sc672.
Pls I need help. I suspect I might need to reload firmware which I don't have.
    Thanks.

Do you at least have a service manual and a parts catalog? The original SC 487 has to do with the toner collection unit. The SC 672 is a controller startup error and could caused by putting a boards from a 9000 in a 1100 or from an 1100 in a 9000. There is on cable in this production line that is different for each model.

Thanks for your response, I have the manual, but I do not know which cable is different for both.

After changing NVRAM to the right one, the machine is now back to the original sc487. The waste toners are emptied, but I cannot access service mode to clear the counter.

Check out [User Tools] > System Settings > Administrator Tools > Service Mode Lock, and make sure it's set to OFF!

                  From the service manual:
The drive gear that drives the cleaning and toner transport mechanism is
equipped with a torque limiter. If the rotation of the toner collection coil becomes
overloaded, the torque limiter disengages the drive gear.
If that torque limiter starts to slip, it will cause SC 587. I have had to replace that gear a few times on the Pro 1357EX. I have also had to clean the sensor. If the machine has been stored for a long period of time, the sensor could be coated with dust.

But why can 't I assess service mode and the control panel does not display Systems Settings for me to check if Service Mode is disabled by admin

because you have a fatal error.. on SOME machines you need to have front door open when loading firmware/clearing errors...
can't say for sure about this model
