Ricoh 1224 moans like a whale

This POS copier is driving me nuts! Replaced drum unit and swapped out fuser with good used one. Upon startup no problem. Noise seems to be from fuser unit . Occurs once per second. Stops when main motor stops after making copy. Doesn't happen all the time (only 90&#37. Could it be related to toner motor? What is code to turn on motor? Any ideas?

this is the oil wick on the fuser which gets a build up of gunge and as the fuser rotates it causes this moaning. strip the oiler ass. and scrape off the contamination

Also check that oil is being pumped up into the oil sump the wick sits in.

Could be noise coming from the drive section. Has that been replaced yet on the machine? Does it happen on single color copies of all developers (CMYK)?

Have you replaced the Transport bracket assembly?

Hey, more than likely your problem is in the fuser section of the copier. Generally, the wick in the oil supply troft will collect toner and it will build on the wick and keep oil from getting onto the belt.

The fix is real simple, just take a metal ruler and rub along the wick and know all the excess toner off untill you can see the wick again. If this doesn't take care of it completely then you may need to replace the assembly. I've had one or two that I've had to replace cause it was so bad... Hope this helps
