    Savin 4045Esp Scanning issues

Hi All. I am having an issue with one of our copiers regarding scanning.
the copier is setup on the network and the "target scan Folder" is on our server. when scanning a document (let's say 50 pages), i get "Sending data has failed, the data will be resent later". however, i dont get this error everytime i scan a large document. i just scanned a 91 page document and it went through, i went back and scanned it again and i got the error, went again for the 3rd time and i got the error, did it again and it went through ..etc . this happens randomly when scanning a large file. is this a connection problem? maybe faulty network card on the copier? anyone experienced this problem before?? i even tried storing the file on the copier and then sending it and the same problem happens (it sends it once then it won't the next time).

    thanks

I haven't seen this problem first hand, but I've heard of it from other techs.
First, have you got the scan settings set to multipage PDF of Tiff?
Second, does it do this on simple one or two page scans like it does on the big scans?
Third, do you have the connection setup via SMB protocol or twain?
Does the server use any application software that handles the scans directly from the machine?

Sometimes the technicians need to reload the NIB firmware to resolve this problem if all else fails....

Sounds like network traffic, almost certain its not the machine, if it where to be it would fail always.

        Thanks for the replies.
The scan setting is setup to Multipage PDF.
I have't seen this problem occure when scanning a page or 2.
It is setup via SMB and there are no application on the server that handle the scans. we just setup shared folders and link the scaner to those folders.

We looked at the server log when a scan job fails to see if it was a communication probelm on the server and nothing happened. its a bit frustrating to be honest because i cant figure it out and i can tell why its happenning.

          Try this may help!

Try adjusting the ethernet speed to 100 full duplex and see if you can recreate the fault. Ask the IT dude what speed the switch is set to eg Auto-100 full duplex and set according. Make sure you have the latest firmware on m/c. Setup folder on your laptop and scan with crossover to prove that its not a hardware issue. Hope this info helps

            Another thought!

With the SMB path try replacing the \\server name with an ip address instead. cmd at run - ping server name to get ip address. Also try from a clients computer to do a continous ping to the m/c's ip address ( see if you lose connection intermitantly. They may have a faulty port.

I don't see any scan or nib issues in the firmware files that relate to your problem, altho reloading it cant hurt and may remotely help.
Honestly, I agree with iMind, it sounds like network congestion. If the machine is on a hub, move it to a switch, if you're not using a router, get one. Make sure the nib and the distribution device are set for the same speed.
