greeting and happy holidays to all. I am posting this as i know many of the better techs do the full line of ricoh copiers,printers and wide format.And maybe this setting is universal across all lines. I had someone pick up a used spc431dn printer that i "think" i tested on network 4-5 months back..It is a 2 hour ride from me so just dropping in is not easy. I am older and dont remember everything like i once did. It wont print via nic nor usb hub. Can reset to normal via service mode or WIM? No Print, WIM and Ping work .. found this in GG No print. Ping and WIM work - Network security, user settings selected No Print, WIM and Ping work - Enhanced Lock Print enabled

Is there an error logged from the WIM? I suggest, disable the virtual printer, set the network security level to 0.

i am not on site"its 2 hour drive from me" and customer picked up unit from me.
I did advise both trying to log in WIM, and ping IP address"both worked".
If the hard drive went bad from moving or being banged around would it code a sc code and would it still try to print?
I dont do too many of these as moving 130 lb printers is not for the solo tech.
Can I do a 5801-02 or -03 to put unit back to default"out of the box settings"??

I think you might have already answered your own question. If you can get into the interface and you can ping the IP, then you've eliminated the network as a culprit. "User Settings, Enhanced Print Lock Enabled?"... What do you think the customer MIGHT have keyed in a User code, and have set their print driver up with the WRONG code?

...I've seen that happen more than a few times. Check the print job history...if you see the jobs hitting the copier, but not printing...then check their user code.

A quick check is to have someone send a print job while you watch the print job light on the MFP. If it is an ID code problem, the light will come on momentarily.

Is the problem only with one computer and only with the SP C431? I have seen protection suites such as McAfee block TCP/IP printing if the user fails to allow it the first time a print job is sent.

More than once I had solved that kind of problem by power cycling the network switch where the machine is connected. It's a long shot, but doesn't hurt.

I hope i am not jinxing myself but i have not heard back so maybe they were doing something wrong..
As for doing a 4 hour roundtrip on a printer I sold cheap i will only do as a last option.
If I get there and I get it running because they did it wrong they wont care that i spent half a day going there and back.

That's customer support for you...
