looking for some mac info for ipconfig and pinging a new account.

    hi.
I seem to be seeing more macs out there and tried to set up a moved mpc3502 where the 192 168 1 string did not work.
They had some round white mac wireless router that must use a different address.
I ran a wire to the internet providers router and got it to work.
Are there commands in mac like windos "cmd" ipconfig" and ping an printers ip address to see how it replies?
    thanks.
also what are you using when you get older version of mac like 10.10?
    can you use 10.11?

Don't let it scare you. A Mac computer will pull an IP address from the router in the same way a Windows PC will. The operating system is different, but under the hood they all are just a bunch of Ones and Zeros flying back and forth.

    This might help you.

i kinda like learning a new system and it s just frustrating when you dont even own a mac
to play around with..like many here i try to spend less time in front of a computer mac or windows but it seems
in the future that everything we do will be linked to a pc.........
