That'd be a dirty transfer unit waste sensor.
Take the back off the machine, get yourself a tin of compressed air with a pipe on it, poke the pipe between the BICU and groundworks board until you get to the transfer waste pump assembly (the one at the top of the diagonal white pipe) and give it a good blast off with the air. Reboot and hey presto.
If that doesn't work it could be the entire recycling system is blocked up.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

hi friend
hi technician friend l can healpe you ...this code sc495 the toner recycling sensor output signal does not change within 500ms when the drum motor turns on
posibles causes
too much load on the drive mechanism
toner recycling clutch defective
or bad conection clutch or sensor
so you try verification there dear technician.BEST TECHNICIAN . NICE PEOPLE .Comment

Sounds like you have a dirty recycling sensor (AW01-0120) The drive for the recycling unit is oblonged and therefore rubs the wrong way causing a dust to bulid up on the sensor. You can try cleaning it, but most likely you will have to replace it. GOOD LUCKComment

You probably have a clogged recycling tube coming from the pcu/transfer area. Swing out the controller and the BICU and locate the white tube and the belt that drives the auger. Remove the belt and the one screw that attatches the assembly to the frame. With a little finesse you can pull the tube out to the right. Once out pull the tube off of the auger and clean out the clumped toner. I have had to do this to many machines that are located in a high humidity environment. Good luckNEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

495 code I always pull the whole tube off the transfer unit and pull the white pipe off and clean it well also clean the sensor on that unit and make sure the black flag is not hitting the sensor getting tiny shards of plastic inside that sensor. If that happens put a small washer on the end of the coil under the e-ring and make sure the flag is centered.Comment

Don't forget the unit behind the waste toner bottle. If this is damaged or blocked it could restrict toner flow and cause the auger from the transfer unit to back up.
It is likely to be the upper unit sensors / gears causing the problemas mentioned previously. Also, remove and check the plastic gears, they fit on shafts with a "D" profile and if jammed can round off causing the gear to slip even after the blockage is cleared.Comment

Don't forget about the recycling section on top of the development unit.Don't take that toner with me!Comment
