Got back to the machine and the sensor was stuck. The machine had been moved out of the office for painting and brought back. There's a good bump at the main door in and that may have caused the issue.

    Thanks to everyone.

If you clear parts counters on these machines you MUST clear the counter with the RH side doors open or they will NOT reset...especially the Cleaning units.

This may be the issue since the metres line up with the PM counters for both black and colour. It's possible that the sensor is out of alignment. Won't get a chance to get down there for a few days so I'll know for certain then.

Since you just took over the service recently, I would not put it past the former service provider having cleared the counter without replacing it. My guess is that the lube is worn down to the near-end sensor.

The message is calling for the black drum's cleaning unit to be replaced. The PM counter only shows 12,922 pages on it, well below the threshold for the PM.

How many prints on the cleaning unit, you will need to replace it.

MP C6502 Replace PCU Cleaning Unit

I took over service on a C6502 about a month ago and it's been working until now. There are only 12,000 pages according to the PM counter for the black drum, but it's calling for a new cleaning unit. I've tried manually resetting the counters and resetting the PM counters in service mode, but the message will not go away. Also tried all of the solutions in the Goose Guide for this as well in terms of order of operation. Is there anything else that I'm missing?

Firmware is up to date as of last week.

    Thanks everyone
