[Misc] Ricoh Aficio MP 301 - smudged line at the top back side of the page.

Hello, i have ran into a problem.
Our company has a circle of engineers between different companies,
and so far no one has the answer for the problem. Also didnt find any one mentioning it on forums here. So i thought would give a shot and post a thread.

A client MP 301 always prints out a smudged line on back of the page.
Happens only on a first page of every print job.

Donor machines are available at hand to experiment with,
so far drum, fuser, transfer roller was changed and nothing helped.

Any suggestions? I appreciate any answers. Thanks.

Have you look at devlp count 7-803-2 this pcu only good for 45,000 copies. what you are seeing is back ground. Could be from drum /charge roller/grounding and bad toner. If you have a pcu try it first. clean out toner hopper and make one copy then if ok run devlp setup. Install fresh toner to make sure it was not causing problem.

Replace drum unit and then use genuine Ricoh toner

You have a dirty transfer roller. Replace it and if there is a setting in SP for transfer roller cleaning, turn it ON.

Remove the PCU and clean the Quenching Lamps on the upper left side. You can change SP 2996 to a 1 for better transfer roller cleaning. Your sample is showing heavy background on the backside of the print and is indicative of both a need for the drum unit and transfer roller replacement. If the Quenching lamp assy is not cleaned after replacement of the transfer roller and PCU you will have a shorter life on the PCU and roller.

                  Good luck

I've always snapped the locator pin off the front of the machine, and used the type 1515 PCU.
The cost of the unit (for me anyway) is nearly half

Thanks Brianneoe, cleaning the Quenching Lamps helped, the pages come out clean. I also set SP 2996 to 1. I will try this on a couple more machines and post back.
