    MP W7100SP SC-144

    Error in communication of CIS not looking to pay $6,700 for this part any idea's...

    It may not be the CIS itself. There are a host of other things that can cause this code. Refer to the manual. In all the years I have worked on equipment with a CIS, including wide format, I have never had to replace one.

      If you are talking about the CIS used in Production models do determine the side registration of the copy paper, I have never had to do more than clean the paper lint buildup off. If on the other hand you mean the CSI used as the backside scanner in single pass document feeders and some fax machines, I have had to replace 1 of each. Luckly on the SPDF, I had an older parts machine that had the same scanner unit.

        X2 what mikadonavan said. Never had a cis go out on a 7100 or 5100 and I have quite a few. If the customer does a lot of scanning and copying be sure to clean it really well including all sensors as slimslob mentioned.
