    MPC2011 Image Qaulity Issue

    Hi Guys

We have got a situation where a clever salesman sold a MPC2011 to a copyshop. The machine has been at the customer for 2 years.

    Meter reading atm is
    Black 23000
    Colour 32000

The customer is printing business cards on 300GSm A3 paper. Obviously the machine is in the wrong environment but according to the customer they have been quite happy with the prints till now.
The problem we are having is that the prints looks like they are not fusing probably. When print on 80gsm they look fine. They are printing from CorelDraw that is running from a Windows Virtual Machine on a iMac. When saving the file to a PDF the prints actually looks a bit better. It is mainly the black fine parts in the print that is looking like it is not fusing. That being said we are not getting a ghost image from the unfused toner. We have replaced the black dev unit as well as the PCU. Also tried a new fuser unit and adjusting the fusing temp.

Any ideas??? Can it maybe have something to do with the design of the card in coreldraw.

Looking at the machines specifications 300gsm is above the machines capabilities.

      Hi

Not according to this MP C2011 Specifications | Ricoh India

You can also set the machine and driver on Thick 4 which will is for 300gsm

        Things to try:

You could ask if they recently changed to a different brand of paper for those business cards. If so, maybe the machine doesn't like the new stock.

It might be specific only to what program they are printing from. Some Microsoft programs will use plain paper settings over riding the thick paper settings chosen under the print driver.
Maybe that corel draw is doing something similar. Convert the file to pdf and try printing it to see if the same issue occurs.

If not, I don't recognize the model (it looks like a MP C2003) , but there might be settings for fusing temp you can adjust in SP mode.

Ok, from the sales guide it is indeed part of the C2003/C2503 family:

MP C2011SP is new addition to Ricoh’s MP C2003/2503/3003/3503/4503/5503/6003 family of colour multifunctional products. The 20 ppm colour MFP is positioned as a ‘value solution’ forcustomers who are prepared to trade some functionality for alower price. Targets for MP C2011SP will include small businesseslooking to improve their facilities, small- to medium-sizedbusinesses in developing markets and price sensitive tenders. To reduce cost, there are limited feed and finishing options forthe MFP and some solutions, such as fax, searchable PDF andMFP browser, are not supported. That said, although positionedas a ‘value solution’, the new MFP does offer cost consciouscustomers versatile functionality, productive performance andoutstanding image quality.MP C2011SP is a 20 ppm colour MFP. It is network ready, printcopy-scan enabled, has an integral document server, a colourtouch-screen operation panel and a media card reader. Thestandard configuration includes a document feed, a full speedinterleaving duplex, two 550 sheet paper trays and a 100 sheetactive bypass. Options include a 2 x 550 sheet paper bank andPostScript 3 printing. There are no finishing options.

Cold offset images on variety types of documents

          [SYMPTOM]
Cold offset images (poor fusing from insufficient heating) may occur when printing onto plain paper or thick paper types.

          CAUSE
The toner is not melted and fused into the paper fibers because of the following:
          • The surface of the paper is rough and irregular (small indentations on the paper surface are not heated enough)
          • Too much toner has been transferred to the paper surface (this can happen with high-coverage images or due to the condition of the machine)

          SOLUTION
Change the SP modes settings according to the model, and then check the print quality.

Thicker Paper will cause earlier failure of parts, especially the fusing sleeve. PSG says 240k for the sleeve, and your counts are only 55k combined, so it may not be the case.
If all else fails though, you could try a new fusing sleeve.
