    MP C5502 White Line issue

I've searched and have tried a few of the options on the forum, but kind of out of ideas now. There is a white line running down every black print. CMY prints fine with no line. First I ran the LD cleaner back and forth just to make sure. Then checked the pcdu. I went ahead and changed the whole development unit and Drum unit. Ran the full dot pattern for black once again and there is still a line in the same exact spot. Tried another laser unit we had sitting around and no change in the line.

Thanks for the help. It's much appreciated.

Exact same line and in the exact same spot after having swapped Laser Housing and Black PCDU (Drum/Dev Unit)? When I look at your sample copies it looks like lint (or equivalent) that might be blocking a small area along the optical cavity beneath the Black PCDU. The line appears broken in the middle so I doubt that it is anything trapped along the edge of the "Doctor Blade" in the Dev Unit.

Need more info. Is the line running from lead to trail or side to side. Check the transfer belt unit.

Yeah the line never changed or moved after the replacement of both parts. That's what has me dumbfounded. Never ran into this before.

It's running from lead edge to trail. I looked at the transfer belt and it had a dimple in it, but it was about a half inch off the line.

And colour sky shots don't have the issue?
I've had something similar where a piece of label was stuck under the plate for one of the handles and was dragging through the image.
Perhaps swap out the itb assy next?

I tend to agree with Gary Bowen.

Also you might have a wire or something inside the ITB assembly that has worn a grove in the black transfer roller.

Have a close look at the space between laser and PCU, I have seen a small hair causing strange white line.

I meant it as I installed brand new dev units. They weren't used.

I'm with some of the others on this. It looks like something blocking the window between the laser and the drum unit. Pull the black drum, and inspect the cavity at the bottom. I've even seen something on the UNDERSIDE of the laser glass...and there's no way for the cleaning wand to get to it.

Good luck. I have an 03 series with a doctor blade issue on the Cyan I have to deal with later today.
