Hi. I had to tell someone of my mega bodge/hack
So I have a MP c8003 which had background dusting. Machine was not mine from new so I don’t know the history and who knows if the devs were fitted right in the first place. Even tho it had only done 300k I guess it would be the devs or drums. I have no drums spare and at $200 odd each I am not mad keen on fitting ones at a guess. So I have loads of devs so fitted the devs and set it up fully. Oh on that note what is TD Sensor initialise Mid? Below normal TD sensor initialise? Anyway it would not let me choose that after I did the normal one. All came out as done 1111. So checked the machine once set up and still a dusty background especially on coated. So I knew it was drums knowing the machines.
The hack......or bodge.....I have loads of MP c8002 drums. Different colour, different drive end but same shape and size. Also the 8002 toners if desperate can be used in the machine but that’s another hack I did but if you are desperate you can pour some in and it works fine. So due to the fact the charge is the same current etc and the Toner/dev is the same make up I wondered if the drum would fit.
It didn't, due to the drive end being different on the drum but if you put a screwdriver in and prise it up in a circular motion the end comes off. I did the same on the old drums what belonged to the machine and swapped the drive tops over. Fitted the drums and hey presto.....it only worked. Process control etc and Auto calibration and colour reg all worked great and the quality is perfect. All the data is stable and works fine. The new doner drums got rid of the background and I saved myself a load of cash.
Hope this has helped someone in the field with no drums but got some 8002 ones on them.
Thanks for the reading.
Tim.
