[Misc] Ricoh 4500 MPc First page print or copy problem

Good morning I have been scratching my head and tried cleaning everything that I can think of and replaced the fuser with a known new one. So I have come to the source of knowledge all of you.

I have attached pages printed and copied of what I am getting on the first page of a copy or a printed document. It does not happen on the second or subsequent pages and when I print a color photo it is very seldom seen.

Rarely without any reason it does not appear on the first page. I have run a large number of print jobs and if there is time between the jobs the first page will be a problem. If jobs are stacked up only the first page with be a problem and no others.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks
    Bill

It looks like the black PCU is due for replacement, how many prints on machine? What does the PM counters say? But even if it hasn't made yield chances are cleaning blade has aged since these machines are pretty old already

        Total b&W copier/printer 230,000

I replaced the drum at 180,000 but haven't done the developer I figured that it still had life in it since they say it is good for 300,000 But I will take a much closer look at the developer wipers and replace the unit.

Thanks for the ideas. will let you know if it solves the problem.

When you replaced the Black PCU I take it you installed a new K PCU? Was it B2242042? The PSG shows a PM interval of 80K. I have seen them fail much earlier but typically they last in the 180K range. My gut and having serviced this product since it's release makes me think you are wasting your time looking at the Dev Unit as the source of the problem. Go with another (NEW) Black PCU first.

That would affect color as well as B/W. What I am seeing on his PDF is exact the same that you will get on a 60 ppm plus machine that is over due a PM, or at least corona rebuild. Drum surface does not reach full charge on first rotation or two.

Fairly quick cost effective check would be to switch the black drum unit out with one of the colour units and see if the the problem follows it to the other colour. Just remember to modify the corner on the connector otherwise you're in for a fun time stripping out the back haha
