The paper transfer unit gear could be broken. This will cause the transfer belt encoder to get a faulty reading and the unit to lock occaisionly.

    Action

Check the transfer roller to the right hand side of the paper transport belts
    Replace gears 8,18 & 20.

    B132-6301
    B132-6302

    Hope this helps

( I don't know if the picture has worked for you)

Thank you for the response i had went in to this transfer section and cleaned everything it is cold here in the warehouse about 40 degrees copier is up and running now in b/w but am locked out of color asking for user code. unable to change in key op/admin is there a standard bypass code? tried the usual. dumped the memory then did an all clear went back in and reset vital areas. this did not clear the "user id" when you enter systems there is a verification icon on top of screen asks for name and password. how to bypass this??? thank you all for your help!!! jprecht

Sounds like someone has set up an admin password, try going into user presets(123), then hold down hash key# then press system settings.

thanx for your response, i have already tried that in admin tools. pop up screen says " not authorized to perform this task" shows you that only b/w is not highlited. at the top of the systems screen there is a "log in" prompt when you touch it it asks you for "user name"
            "user password"
i have tried the usual suspects it reponds with "authentication failed" i tried the memory clear "all" and this did not help get rid of this. searched the copier door and areas where someone might have scribbled code, nada just got this box with no books or paperwork . thanx for your time!!!! j
