    Ricoh Postscript SD Module

Hello - I recently received a new MP C4504 in the office which came equipped with the Postscript SD Module. The office does not use it as we don't have any Mac's in the environment.

If I pull this module out and install it in another office that has an old MP C3500 would it work or is the module tied to the Cxx04 models?

    Thanks for any help!
    Regards,
    Marco

    Hello!

Yes, it's only for the Cxx04 models.

      Thanks for letting me know!

So if I want PS on my C3500, can I purchase a used SD module that is for the Cxx00 models? Or do I need to buy new directly from Ricoh?

The C3500/C4500 use PS3 Unit Type C4500 which is not compatible with any other models. You can find them online but avoid ebay. Purchase from one of the locations that sell used copiers. I have seen times when you could pickup entire parts machines for less than what others might charge for a PS3 card. Most of them will also guarantee what they sell.

Warning!! Before removing a PS3 SD card from any Ricoh machine, you must first stop the PS service. I believe on the 04s this is done through the Service Program. On older model it is done through User Tools. If you don't there is an outside chance of cratering the Controller when power is turned on with the card removed. Doesn't always happen but I doubt if you wish to be the one it happens to.

So if I look for a used "PS3 Unit Type C4500", would that work in any C3500 or are they locked to the original machine it was purchased for? ie. Do I need to buy new from Ricoh or can a used one work in my C3500?

          Thanks!

use will work but display might said that is has been used in a different copier. i have bought use postscript and had no problems with them. if you check ebay it will tell that it works on both copiers one is just a faster copier speed.

A used one should work. There files that are placed on the SD card when it is first installed. There are a number of posts that give the names and location of those files. Deleting them and the card appears to have not been used.
