    [Misc] MP 4002 network connectivity

    I have a MP 4002 / D129 that won't connect to the customer's network, or my laptop.

Took a known working controller board out there today, same problem. Brought their controller back to my office and it works in the machine I pulled the controller from.
I did check the 5985 (on board NIC on or off) and made sure it was set to 1.

    Any ideas?

Is your laptop connected directly to machine with network cable.

Yes, did the same at the shop, plug the machine directly into my laptop via a CAT5 cable

802.1x turned on? I have seen it happen before inadvertently. Note the network settings and do a restore default is usually what I do when this happens.

x2 on that. Had it just a couple of weeks ago when some 'smart person' was fooling around in system settings

            Thanks,
I suspect that could be the case, customer was trying to use one of those TP link wifi range extenders to be able to connect the machine. The machine doesn't have wifi, but I bet they turned it on trying to get it to connect.

802.1x is normally for Ricoh's very expensive internal WiFi option. It is also used with some high security authentication systems.

Are you referring IEE 802.1x Authentication for Ethernet, located in Network setting?

I had a job a few weeks ago that was doing the same thing. I had to switch it to inactive to connect it to the network.

I think we've ALL had this at least once from the sounds of it.

That was it, 802.1x was set to active, set it to inactive and was able to connect.

                        Thanks for the help.

We had a tech replace the controller board because of this.

the first thing i do now with these calls is print out the configeratiobn page and see if is enabled customers are nightmares for this.

Almost happened to me the first time - thankfully Ricoh asked me to check the setting first!
