    sc 641,sc 641*, and sc 670 codes

i just swapped out a mpc40sr that i sold months back, that customer complained

    would throw sc codes.

The machine had all the latest FW and was in a hard place to get to so i upgraded him

to a mpc401sr and made the swap.

Upon testing the machine i get no codes and did see a small paper shredder sharing the same outlet.

As i can only ck the last 10 codes I dont know if this was a noise issue from the shedder.
machine has a ricoh surge protector

Re: sc 641,sc 641*, and sc 670 codes

SC 641 does not show up in SM. Is it 541?

    As for the SC 670
    Engine start up error CTL

The ready signal from the engine board was not detected.

    Case 1

No /ENGRDY signal asserted at power on, or when machine

    left low power mode.

No response from EC from engine within the specified time at

    power on.

No response from PC from engine within the specified time at

    power on.

No response from SC from engine within the specified time at

    power on (MFP module only).

Write to Rapi driver failed (no destination found at PCI).

    Case 2

Unexpected error occurred after /ENGRDY signal asserted.

Check the connections between the controller and BCU

Replace the BCU for 100% failure

If occurrence of the error is sporadic, the firmware may need to

be updated, or the controller board or PSU requires

    replacement

EDIT: This is from the C401sr service manual. Below is the C240 manual, which DOES have the SC 641.

    641

    CTL

    D

    BCU control data transfer abnormal

A sampling of the control data sent from the BCU reveals an

    abnormality.

    Controller board defective

    External noise

    BCU board defective

    1. Replace the controller board.

    2. Replace the BCU.

and 670 is an engine start up error (Replace BCU)

If you meant MP C400SR then SC 641 is in the Service Manual.
      BCU control data transfer abnormal
A sampling of the control data sent from the BCU reveals an abnormality.
      • [*=1]Controller board defective
        [*=1]External noise
        [*=1]BCU board defective

      1. Replace the controller board.
      2. Replace the BCU.

A small shredder plugged in the same outlet could definitely generate enough RF noise to blow right through a surge suppressor as well as transmitted noise.
