    Appolon MPC3500 SC290/291

    Hi All

    The fault is intermittent
I replaced the shutter motor and sensors first , (do not follow the manual it is so wrong) the machine ran for several days the came in again this time the loom was visually checked and the IO board changed the fault has come back in . The shutter runs smooth.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

There was a firmware update on one of these new color models because the shutter wasn't opening properly - I can't find firmware history or a bulletin on this model, but that don't necessarily mean anything. Might be worth a try.

Right on the money, update & reload firmware, fault will go,bad news is you've just wasted a heap of money on parts that aren't needed-firmware is free!!!!

Maybe The writing link shutter's stabilizing screw (shoulder screw: 1 place) is loose.
        [Resolution]
        Retighten screw.
Do not lubricate the shutter's shoulder screw with grease.

(There is a possibility that an abnormal image might be caused by dirt on the toner shield glass.)

Firmware update mmmmmmmm well the machine has been on site for 1 year and has done the normal amount of outputs so I have serious doubts that updating the firmware will change anything. I have checked Tessa and there are no bulletins or mods for the error code.If you know of any pls shout. As for spending lots of money a couple of sensors and a dc motor arnt going to break ther bank (the IOB was substituted).

Rami I think you could be right . I will strip out the lazer unit and check the shutter

            Ditto!

            SC290 and SC291 occur [Symptom]

SC29* (write shutter opening/closing error), which cannot be reproduced, occurs.
SC290 (shutter does not close) and SC293 (shutter does not open) occur.
It occurs about once a month and is difficult to reproduce.
Even if the shutter is opened and closed repeatedly in OUTPUT mode, it cannot be reproduced.
            Answer [Cause]
When the device is left for long periods of time in a low temperature environment, the write unit (the black molding) cover shrinks, the slide load on the shutter and shutter stabilizing screw (shoulder screw) increases, and SC290 or SC293 occur because of the shutter malfunction.
If it occurs on a steady basis, it is possible that the open/close motor and open/close sensor is faulty.
            [Resolution]
            • Remove the top screw (1) of the write unit, mentioned below.

            • You can maintain slideability even when the mold components have shrunk due to low temperatures by removing one screw.

            • Do not lubricate the shutter's shoulder screw with grease. (There is a possibility that an abnormal image might be caused by dirt on the toner shield glass.)

            • After setup, there is no problem with removing the screw because the device will not be shipped; however, in consideration of the problem of shaking when shipping the product (the risk of changing the shape of the shutter, cracking the shutter unit and molding, and similar problems), we plan to respond by changing the width of the screw hole (shutter unit) from 6 mm to 7 mm as a long-term resolution.

try this goto sp2914-001 set to 43, this should give shutter motor extra push or just remove the shutter from the lsu either on will work with no long term effect. The later require the laser slit glass to be cleaned from time to time.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.
