    Ricoh Aficio 1224C network

    Hi @ all,

i'am using a aficio 1224c in an office. printing over tcp/ip is no problem.
But nearly everything else. Sending a scan per mail over smtp gets no contact to the smtp server
and has a dns error. And i don't know, how i can make the scanned documents in the ricoh popular for the users.
The unit is cableconnected to a wlan router and has an own fixed ip adress.
The router is the dhcp server and shares the ip adresses to the by wlan conntected laptops (winxp).
With ScanRouter and DeskTopBinder i get no connection to the unit.
The software is not able to find the hardware in the network.
What goes wrong in my system ?

    greetz and thanx for help,
    alex

      Try this!

Have you tried using the IP address of the SMTP server instead of name. May illiminate DNS issues.

Use ping command to get IP address of server eg: type ping 'SMTP server' at command prompt it will respond with IP address.

When ScanRouter V2 Lite or Pro is installed on Windows XP+SP2, an exception must be added to the Windows firewall to allow the MFD to connect to ScanRouter. The exception to be added is for TCP Port 3670.

      Hope this info helps!

Roll it out in the parking lot and charge everyone from the office $5 a swing.
Take that money and invest in at least a good color machine.
        1224's SUCK.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

          Hi Captain Scott,

the ip adress instead of the servername may be an alternative. I have read about the problem, that ricoh does not support smtp authentication which can be activated. So i will additional disable the auth. and choose pop before smtp to authorizate.
ScanRouter is testinstalled at a win2k maschine without a firewall. Is there no other possibility to get access to the MFD and to get the scanned files ?

            Twain scanning??

Twain scanning is an option, go to ricoh website and download network twain driver. It isn't the most user friendly option but could be a solution in your environment. Please note you will need your own scanning software eg: Microsoft Document Imaging (Microsoft office tools).

Does anyone know if you can scan to hard drive on this machine and retrieve through web browser (Web Image Monitor)?

Scanrouter has the same reputation as this model!
