You can change toner supply to fixed mode to bypass the TD sensor. It is under process SP mode, like 3440 or somewhere around there, at least it is on a 6003.

How much developer do you put in your MP 161? I put 170 gram. Is this much or little?

170 grams is fine. Or half a bag of ORIGINAL RICOH TYPE 28. That works perfectly

when i use to spend a whole day just rebuilding 220 and 1022 drum units the one thing i found is they could NOT handle and "over toning and
using too much developer powder..always go light on developer..
          it s plastic gears right?
I though one could also use a type 1013 drum and just swap td sensor..
I dont see too many of these and rather deal with the color series..

Give it up. The 161 was introduced over 12 years ago. Time to get something newer model.
