sounds like the IT dept, (like many i've and other have encountered) you are dealing with aren't the smartest bulbs on the Xmas tree. Keep going brother.. we'll do our best to support your efforts.
As the resident Lib'ral Athiest here, Phil...I couldn't care less about your use of the "Xmas" tree remark but I know some of my conservative christian friends and family whose asses are right chapped over that abbreviation : ). Happy Holidays ya'll!

..4 fries short of a Happy Meal?
Or does rub someone the wrong way?

No I think I'll leave it as:
Not the brightest bulb on the CHRISTmas tree

IMO, the network control system can get rusty sometimes. Try resetting it (memory clear - NCS) be careful not to select all. Or else, well, goodluck

Late to the party, but since these are 2003 models, that means they have likely been around for awhile. Perhaps a HDD starting to go?

One of the my rules of thumb about slow print and how to distinguish it from network and machine goes like this:

From when the time the user pushes print until it hits the machine (data light starts blinking) is on the network.

After the data light comes on and is blinking until it prints is on the machine. (Allowances have to be made in the case of large print files, but a simple sheet of printed text should not take all day).
