    MP 501 SPF Wireless Printing

I know Ricoh's wifi options in the past have been terrible which is why I never bothered to use them. Power line adapter or access-point always have been a better alternative. We have just received an MP 501 SPF ( has SOP and shows built in wifi). The strangest part for me is that I am able to connect to the wifi and browse the internet. I am however unable to ping to the device with the ip address and unable to install it as a printer. When I plug in an ethernet cable, I am able to see the device and print, scan , copy etc.

What I'm wondering is if it is possible to run this machine on wifi alone for the printing, scanning functions etc.

    Thanks guys

Did some further digging and looks like the wifi is just limited to the SOP doh!. Would have been nice if the wifi interface could be setup from the panel. Oh well ethernet it is.

It is also low powered and very short range. It other use is to provide the Ricoh app om your smart device with the primary IP information for the main frame so that if you have access to the building WiFi, you can scan and print.
