Replacement: Cleaning unit for PCU MPC8002

    Hi all!
I have a MPC8002 that started giving the message Replacement Required: Cleaning Unit for PCU for the Black. I verified the lubricant and there still lubricant. I even switched the cyan and the black cleaning units, did the PM reset. But I'm still getting the message.

Check SP 3810-021 Lubricant End Detection Detection Flag:K. If it is not 0 you have a problem.
    0: Normal,
1: Mechanical Detection, the lube bar sensors,
    2: Near End counter Detection,
    3: End counter Detection

If there is less than about 10mm at either it may be detected by the sensors. Less than 5mm it will be detected.

Counter was in 20K, I have the spare parts and will do it tomorrow. I measured the sensors and I had the yellow one activated. However It still have a little lubricant. But the strange thing was that the error reported by the machine was in the black but when I measured which sensor was shorted was the yellow one.

Hi...A wide variety of ricoh photoconductor unit options are available to you, such as full. You can also choose from yes ricoh photoconductor unit, as well as from lexmark, brother, and epson ricoh photoconductor unit, and whether ricoh photoconductor unit is compatible, or original.

                +1

why do some techs think that resetting counts and NOT doing the proper repair is ok?

engineers put the PM in there for a reason ( not always just to capture revenue ) and to ignore the replacement is going to cause future issues and tend to PISS customers off always having you there!

makes no sense to me, but I always did the FULL PM when it called for it and NO parts in the kit were "not needed" like some techs say.

i put that on them just being lazy and not wanting to "Take the time to do it RIGHT!"

                my 2 cents.

a lube bar can't be run long after the message damage to the drum will result.

don't half ass a repair. not good for customer nor for your reputation.

I hope you aren't saying those can be interchanged with ricoh and vice versa.. 1) doubt the have the dimensions 2) I know they don't have the same photographic standards between brands 3) most times they are matched to toner/dev properties. not ALL toners even in the same brand do NOT have the same properties.

please explain your post a little more.

I read it as an illegal advertising attempt and reported it.

One of our other techs has a bunch of these machines and the Pro versions also, and most of those customers are STRICT with their PM's! Those customers have even gone as far as going above and beyond the "User Training" for these machines, and have learned some more advanced maintenance/ upkeep skills (we don't mind!). When things cost as much as they do for maintenance on these machines (not to mention the cost of machine itself) , they want to make sure parts go to yield per specs (Always Genuine Ricoh), and that the PM's are done in a COMPLETE and Reliable fashion (so as to go to yield for the next PM), no half-assing! When it's calling for a part to be replaced, they don't just want you to swap lube bars between units and reset the counts, they want NEW lube bars installed, because they depend on that machine to run for another PM cycle, and will be pissed when they have to call you back prematurely in the middle of a job.
