    Heeeellpp...! FW870 - Dead

this machine has been a thorn in my side since we sold it,

unfortunatly the customer who has this machine suffered a power cut and since then its dead.

i'm hoping its happened to a few of u guys in the past and u could maybe point out which board would be a good place top start

    cheers

    John

The very bottom picture is the power supply board. I would start there. There are some fuses on that board ,check and make sure they didnt blow one of those and if they are good you could check the voltages coming out of the board to see if you are losing power there or if maybe it is losing it somewhere else. If I had to guess I bet a fuse is blown though.

Hi m8 thanks for the reply, unfortunatly the fuses r ok, on all boards including the main 8amp 1 thats beside the mains cable. i suppose i should check to see if there is a voltage going into the main psu which is linked from the board thats behind the noise filter.

i hate playin with dead machines, i just wait for the bang lol

There's also a circuit breaker in the machine, located on the power supply cord bracket, before the noise filter. Might want to make sure it didn't blow.

Do you see any power getting to the power supply at all?

thanks for all the replys so far

there is 240v leaving the noise filter to what looks like a ac/dc psu board

the cable that leaves the ac/dc board to the on/off switch has no power to it, which also means the cable that leaves the on/off switch to the main psu has no power to it, so i'm guessing its the ac/dc psu

after looking at the parts manual - A174 5504 AC Drive Board - 230V

I faced this situation in many times.
the main cover is always give a problem if not closed propperly.
