Someone changed the SP modes entry code on an MPC3003!

...I knew it was a BAD IDEA as soon as I saw SP 5081 on the newer models.

Picked up a Ricoh mpc3003 from wholesaler today. Well, someone must've changed the SP entry code and now I can't get into regular SP modes. 143 still works, but sp5081 is not there to change the code back.

I'm going to try swapping nvram with another 3003 I also picked up to see if the code travels with the nvram. Otherwise, how can i get 806182 back?

I could refurb the whole machine using only the 143 SP, but we have many other techs that would just waste time trying to figure this out again and again in the field and i don't want them doing that.

    TIA,
    Mike

PS. i already tried 107 just in case. :-(

There was a post on this same subject recently. It covers how to use a text editor to search the NVRam data. See if you can export the data to SD card in factory mode.

      Did you try 107107?
SP mode must be a 6 digit code.
Several other threads have shown it to be successful

If I was ever in the position to run my own department I would probably try to fire a tech for doing this. If a tech is too "special" and "important" to remember a new standardised number what else are they too important and special for?

Too special to initialise new developer? Too special to default/set charge for new PCU's? Too special to reset PM or jam counters? Empty waste bottle? Clean sensors? Etc...

I have had a number of off lease machines we picked up from wholesalers with that same issue and same change to the SP. I wonder if there is a larger dealer out there changing their entire fleet? So far 107107 has worked every time for us...............so far

Yes I just picked up an MP4054 on Friday and sure enough it was changed to 107107.
Thanks to this thread it was the first thing I tried.
