    now here is the problem

im trying to setup a 2045 no e to do the same and keep running into problems...

It's really expensive for the individual parts (it's also a bit harder to get the kits as they're getting older). I've done it once, and it's quite a bit of work. I would have done things differently, but the salesman.......

Anyway, it would be cheaper to get a 2045e/esp from a wholesaler and MacGyver it to make it work. Sometimes, the higher mileage machines are really cheap.

Why not just install "scanrouter lite" on the server and use the 2045 to scan to a folder?? It'sa much easier solution.

Scanrouter lite is a good solution for the 2045 problem. Using it over the years, it works pretty good, but sometimes it can be a bit flaky, and when people change things on the network, scanrouter lite can be a pain. I've always thought of it as a really good workaround to early SMB scanning.

The other thing with scanrouter lite is finding a dedicated machine to point it to. Not all locations have a dedicated machine they can use, but they can appoint a machine to use, and that's not always reliable.

Yes it can be "flaky" as you say, but it beats trying to rebuild the machine. In peer to peer groups, if you set a static IP for the workstation, it has worked just as well for me.

Then you find out that the machine that they want you to put it on is some old, tired, secretary machine that does everything, while running payroll, etc and is already overtaxed as soon as it is turned on.

You're right though, in that if you can pick a good machine and static the IP, it can be ok. I've done this many times; people just need to understand the role of the machine and what they're now using it for. I just got more calls that I thought I would when the scanning just stopped and they needed to reboot the machine in the middle of the day, so there must have been other forces at work.

Sorry, Scanrouter is the only software that will work with the Ricoh, to the best of my knowledge.

It is amazing how retarded customers are....

my latest one bought a 2045e.. well he was going to buy it so i thought

wanted 3 days to "test drive" the machine calls me on the 3rd day and says i dont want the machine ive figured out how to use all these features on my canon iR3300 because of how simple the ricoh is to use .....

now im just waiting for that iR drive to crash since thats a billable repair of
                        almost $1000
